SMPP↔SIP Gateway

Seamlessly bridge SMPP-based SMS networks with SIP-based telephony infrastructure. Our bidirectional protocol gateway handles message translation, addressing, encoding conversion, and real-time billing across both protocol layers with carrier-grade reliability.

Bridging Two Worlds

The SMPP-to-SIP gateway translates between two fundamentally different messaging protocols, enabling SMS delivery over SIP infrastructure and SIP MESSAGE delivery into SMPP-based carrier networks. Address formats, encoding schemes, and session semantics are fully normalised at the gateway layer.

Gateway Capabilities

Bidirectional Translation
Full SMPP 3.4 SUBMIT_SM to SIP MESSAGE translation and reverse. Preserves message content, source/destination addresses, delivery semantics, and DLR callbacks across protocol boundaries.
TLS on Both Sides
SMPP over TLS (port 2777) and SIP over TLS (port 5061) with full certificate validation. Mutual TLS authentication available for enterprise interconnects requiring peer identity verification.
Encoding Normalisation
Automatic conversion between GSM-7, UCS-2, and UTF-8 encodings. Segment reassembly for multi-part SMPP messages before SIP MESSAGE delivery. Correct segment count billing for UCS-2 characters.
Intelligent Routing
Route SMPP-originated messages to SIP destinations based on destination prefix, carrier, or custom dial-plan rules. Failover between multiple SIP upstreams with automatic retry and hunt group logic.
Real-Time Billing
Per-message billing at the gateway layer with balance checks, rate lookup by prefix, and CDR generation regardless of which protocol delivered the message. Single billing ledger for SMPP and SIP traffic.
DLR Mapping
Map SIP 200 OK and 4xx/5xx responses back to SMPP DELIVER_SM DLRs. Asynchronous DLR forwarding to originating SMPP clients with configurable retry logic and timeout handling.
